Unexpected visit by the Siblings

Late evening, the 2 siblings came to visit me.
They are still young, so they rather stand outside of my empty-neighbour house than standing directly infront of my gate.

And why do I say it?

Because my uncle was at outside and shouted:
"Hey Jocelyn, your friends came to visit you!"

I looked out... saw no-one but my uncle.

He shouted again and finally I went out and spot the two human creatures:)

Well, the 2 siblings were my daycare tuition students for 2 months last year. It's nice that we can click immediately. Not really. Initially, it was hard because I still did not know their behavior yet.

After getting to know them as time goes by, I treated them with different personalities based on their behavior. Everyone is different and things would never work if we treated everyone the same way. I realize that we must be flexible.

Anyway, the brother praised my cookies! Nice but I felt shy too:)

It was nice to see them again.
Thank you for the unexpected visit yesterday.

"Sometime, it's Ok to unwrap a present instantly"

Ever since I was a little girl, my family taught me this: Never ever unwrap a present straight on the spot. In another word, it is better to unwrap the present in a place when, there is no one there to look at us.

Yesterday was my last day working as a teacher assistant and a daycare tuition teacher.

My 2 students handed me 2 lovely presents. Another teacher also received a lovely present from them. One of them asked me to unwrap it immediately. Really, I was shocked because I thought it was not good to do so, especially infront of the person who gave me a wonderful present.

I rejected for few times.

Then this 9-year-old boy said, "Teacher, why you do not want to open it?!"
I replied:"Because I felt shy to do it."

He explained: "We did that whenever there is occasion in my place. That's when my aunt and uncle can capture the process of us, unwrapping the presents."

Student and teacher.
Teacher Jojo. That's me:)
First time, having a picture of me unwrapping present. Amazing experience!
Lovely dolphins. Thank you student:)

You are right, too. I thought. He opened my eyes, exposed me to the fact that, we too can do something out of the box, sometimes.

I also 'unshy' to unwrap another present which I received from a 13-year-old student.
Why I do not feel ashamed? Because she is his big sister.:)

Gonna miss them oh:)
Teenagers love to show lots facial expression when taking pictures.
crystal!:)

They are young but they taught me lots of undiscovered knowledge. The boy is good in fixing robot and Lego. The girl is talented in arts and writing.

I am so thankful to meet them in 2012:)

Husband and Wife Look Alike?

Teaching job is fun and challenging at the same time. There is no escape for the teachers to look at some parents who look like siblings due to their looks.

Really, some of us even do our 'own' survey and found out that there are more than 5 pairs of the parents who do included in the group of 'husband and wife look alike'.

According to Philippe Rushton, a psychologist at the University of Western Ontario, marrying someone who looks almost similar to you can ensure "your own segment of the gene pool is safely maintained and transmitted to the future generations."

One of the students has his father's gorgeous smile.

"His mother's smile is the same too", said a colleague of mine.
"Does that mean his daddy looks similar to his wife?", I asked her instantly.
It was true, they both do look alike.
*That was just one of the many cases happen in the workplace.*

It is amazing that there are so many students' parents look alike in the kindergarten. Besides, one of the many pairs of celebrity couple that shares the similar face features is:

Leann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian
Miss Rimes' eyes are so unique. I always think she has this unique yet natural look. I did not think someone will have the similar Rimes Look in this world.

When I came across a picture of Leann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian, I was stunned because they look alike. I was shocked and still shocked, you know?

What do you think of people who share the same look as their significant other?

The Deeper Side of a Concert

Awesome time: 10-11-2012

"Awwh, how cute they are!"
"They dance so good!"
"Look at their clothes, where can we find same clothes for so many children!"

Those are the thoughts that running in my head whenever I saw cute children performed and danced on the stage for their graduation concerts...

Till I was finally given a chance to get involve and told myself there were more to learn, more to know from the concert experience in one month time.

1. We have to take good care of our voice all the time
Because the backstage is filled with voices and shout of the children, the teachers must raise the voice in order to understand what the other teachers are talking.

"Give me a pen!"
"Did you see XXX students!?"
"They want to go to the toilet!"
"Quick, change the students' clothes!"

You see, if the teachers do not take care of the voice, we going to repeat same phrase again and again, and it is going to waste lots of time since time is golden.

2. Be alert
Children who are giving speeches will  have microphones as an aid in order for the audiences to hear them talking.

Somehow, I learn one thing: We must be alert in moving the microphones away after the speeches come to an halt so that they do not disturb the dance performances.

3. There is no time to take pictures at backstage
The time flies because we are so busy to make sure everything run smoothly on that day.
There is hardly a time for us to sit down, to take a breath.

Well, we can finally do it right after the end of the concert. So yeah, there is time for us to take pictures at backstage when everything comes to a fullstop.

4. Know the parents
First Rule: Know the parents.
Second Rule: Follow first rule

Because the backstage is too small to fit in every single students when 'clothes changing' take place, so some of the students are given back to their parents temporarily after they perform their last dance, before going on stage again to sing group songs.

That is the time we need to make sure who are their parents to ensure they do not follow strangers home. Some of them look exactly like their parents' face, so that's going to be much easier for us to identify their parents, too.

My Second Surprise in a week. Whoa!

mcD glass from the student
Ever since I was a child, I had zero confidence in myself. Zero, it is a fact. No matter what I did, there seemed that , there were a soft yet powerful inner voice told me that , "I can never do things right."

In my 22 years' life, I always admire and look up to people, instead of telling myself, I can show the achievement to myself too. I was silly? Yes I was.

In this one year, things happened and I view life from 4 different angle of camera. Awesome? Yes, it is because I realize that when we feel confident, we can perform our task with awesome heart in reality world.

Today, my students gave me the mcD glass by surpirse. Of course, I was delighted because I never thought that I am in their heart, as a teacher. Last week, I was given 2 awesome pens by a kindergarten student.

It is a blessing because I wished that I got a chance to teach the small children or giving tuition lessons to primary school students. Never did I imagine that I can kill two birds with a stone this time.

I am thankful. Life is great, depends on how you view and react to the situation.

Smile on the face

1. "Where are you?!"
The parents showed unexplainable smile and happiness when they received the class photos of their children in kindergarten.

"Where are you?"
"Why aren't you smiling?"
Those are the questions asked by their parents. The children did not answer at all.

Anyway, the parents still feel happy!

2. Play Time
While the teachers are waiting for students to arrive, some children love running on the field, the girls love holding their friends' hand , whereas part of the boys play the slide.

The smile of their faces were obvious. They quarrel, fight with each other and then resume to normal friendship after a simple handshake.

3. Playing Quiet-Shh-Game
It so hard to ask the student to keep quiet and focus on their homework sometimes. I tried it when the students were busy talking.

"Anyone wants to talk, you *any of you* can put the blame on the person for delaying the time to play, extending the time to study."

Of course, they can start their talking session right after they complete their work. They did really great with awesome result as a beginner. Guess what, one of them even said, "Let's play that  again!"

It's never a dull, moody day at work if we know how to make ourselves and people happy.
